Our story
A farm in the middle of town, opened up to the world.
Montijo Garden grew out of an old family plot in the centre of Montijo, kept alive by hand over the years: fruit trees, vegetable beds, chickens, rabbits, pigs and the cats and dogs who decided to stay.
Instead of turning that garden into another block of flats, we opened it. Today it is a guest house where you can sleep surrounded by trees and still walk to a café, a restaurant or a supermarket in a couple of minutes.
We host three kinds of stay: short breaks in our private studio, long-term rooms from two to six months for digital nomads and people working around Lisbon, and pitches for caravans and vans under the trees.
Around 80% of our guests come from abroad, so English is our everyday language here, alongside Portuguese and Spanish. What they share is a taste for slow, honest living, twenty minutes from the capital.
